Managing Users
An exhibit's Users menu in the Gumband UI.
Gumband’s UI lets you share your work and dashboards with others. As a Gumband user, you can invite others to your Workspace, Project, or Exhibit and manage their access to Gumband features by assigning them user roles.

Gumband User Roles
Gumband allows users to have one of two roles that can be applied to Workspaces, Projects, and Exhibits. Both Managers and Developers may access Gumband’s exhibit features, but Managers have greater access to management of Projects.
Manager | Developer | |
---|---|---|
Invite new users, and change user roles | X | X |
Create, manage, and delete Projects | X | |
Create, manage, and delete Exhibits | X | X |
Create, manage, and delete Components | X | X |

User roles in Gumband “trickle down” throughout your Workspace. When a user is assigned a role in a Workspace or Project, Gumband will give them the same access “below” it. For example, if a user is made a Manager of a Workspace, they will be made a Manager of the Projects within that Workspace and Exhibits within those Projects.
However, users may be given greater access to a Project or Exhibit than whatever is “above” it. For example, a user may hold Developer access to a Project with several Exhibits, but be designated a Manager for one of those Exhibits.
Accessing User Lists
A workspace menu in the Gumband UI.
You can view and manage a list of users who have access to a Workspace, Project, or Exhibit by selecting it in the top navigation bar and selecting “Users” from the menu that appears.
Viewing Workspace users in the Gumband UI.
Each User Menu includes an alphabetical list of users with any level of access to that Workspace, Project, or Exhibit alongside their email address and assigned role. You can use the User Menu to invite new users, change their permissions roles, or remove them.
Inviting Users
Inviting a user to a Workspace from a Workspace User Menu.
You can invite a user to a Workspace, Project, or Exhibit by entering their email address in the Invite field at the top of the User Menu.
Selecting a permissions role for a new Workspace user.
After entering an email and pressing “Invite” you can select the role that the new user will be assigned. While Managers may invite new users to either role, developers only can invite a new user as a developer.
When you invite a user to a Workspace or Project, they will automatically gain access to levels “below” it. If you invite a user to a Project or Exhibit, they will gain at least partial access to levels “above” it in order to access that Project or Exhibit.
Updating User Roles
Updating another user's permissions role from a User Menu.
From a User Menu, you may change access roles for other users by selecting the user role dropdown to the right of their name and email. Simply select the user role you would like to assign that user, and their permissions will update.
When you change a user’s role for a Workspace or Project, that change trickles down to access levels “below” it. If you change a user’s role for a Project or Exhibit, that change will not directly affect their role for levels “above” it.
Removing Users
Removing another user from a User Menu.
To remove a user from a Workspace, Project, or Exhibit, you may select a “Remove” option from the menu accessed through the user role dropdown.
To remove yourself from a Workspace, Project, or Exhibit, please reach out to support@gumband.com.
Confirm user removal.
After selecting “Remove,” you will be prompted to confirm removing that user. You may cancel by pressing the back button that appears in the menu. Once you confirm, that user will no longer have access to that Workspace, Project, or Exhibit.
When you remove a from a Workspace or Project, they will be removed from levels “below” it. If you remove a user from a Project or Exhibit, they will not lose existing access to levels “above” it.
