Introduction

Overview

The Gumband platform is designed to simplify experiential development while maximizing its impact on end users. This documentation will help you make the most of the platform by starting with the larger concepts on which Gumband is built, and then drilling down into technical implementation details.

Although Gumband operates through a unified UI, it consists of three core components: health monitoring, content management, and user analytics.

Health Monitoring

Health monitoring is concerned with keeping you aware and notified of the status of your exhibit wherever you are. With Gumband, you trigger an email notification the moment a component goes down as well as configure your exhibit to send regular custom health updates. From the temperature of a CPU to the connection status of a local service, if it can be represented as a string Gumband can monitor it.

Content Management

Content management allows you to set up any custom configurations for your exhibit as well as provide remote file management. Unlike health monitoring, which provides updates of the exhibit's current status, content management lets you define and adjust your exhibit’s state. Whether you need to change settings on the fly or schedule recurring updates, Gumband gives you a seamless way to manage your exhibit remotely, ensuring it runs exactly as intended.

User Analytics

User Analytics helps you understand how users interact with your exhibit and how to optimize their experience. Gumband presents user engagement data in a clear, actionable way, helping you identify which exhibit states are the most compelling. You can define and track any direct interactions—like button presses—and combine that with ambient traffic data using our Presence Sensor to get a complete picture of user behavior. Are visitors drawn to your exhibit but not engaging? Does traffic fluctuate throughout the day? The User Analytics component helps you uncover patterns and refine your exhibit for maximum impact.

Integrating with Gumband

With these three core pillars of Gumband in mind, you're ready to start integrating it into your exhibit. Gumband offers multiple integration options depending on the needs of your particular use case, including:

  • Multiple SDKs to integrate into your software stack
  • An HDK
  • A range of out-of-the-box solutions designed to fit seamlessly into your space.
